NYCDOE 2014-2015 Arts in Schools Report

2014-15 NYCDOE Arts in Schools Report

On December 16, 2015, the New York City Department of Education released the ninth Annual Arts in Schools Report for the 2014-2015 school year.

The report, among other findings, shows that the city’s $23 million annual investment in arts education is having an impact on New York City students:

  • There was a citywide increase of 175 arts teachers working in public schools last year--the highest level in over a decade;
  • The percentage of schools that have at least one arts and cultural partnership increased from 84% to 87%;
  • Funding for school-based arts education increased by $32 million last year. This reflects not only the new $23 million annual investment, but also principals committing to increase their arts budget.
