RESEARCH :

School Arts Support Initiative I & II 

SASI (2007-2012) worked to develop sustainable arts education programming at nine NYC middle schools. Program components included:

  • Rich and multi-faced arts instruction for all students;

  • School coaches to provide school-specific support;

  • Professional development opportunities;

  • External evaluators tracking qualitative and quantitative data; and

  • Dissemination of findings at conferences and in reports.

Outcomes included:

Positive effects on the artistic, academic, and psychological well-being of middle school students.

School commitment to structural, curricular, and pedagogical policies as they pertain to arts in schools.
